I hope you all spent a marvelous Christmas eve with your dearly beloved and had a great start into the new year. The turn of the year is always a wonderful time to recall the last year. I proudly look back on 2016, it was a great season in which I was allowed to attend unique couples on their wedding days. On behalf of love I travelled to several places in Austria and even to Mallorca and Santorini to shoot gorgeous weddings & engagements. So prepare yourself for some beautiful postings the upcoming months!
And this year will be at least as exciting as the last one and I can hardly wait to capture all my future couple´s lovely weddings! I look forward to working with Julian Anmenth for the first time, shooting at Palais Coburg which has been on my wish list for a long time now and there will be a real winter wedding in the mountains to capture as well. All that and even more is waiting for me in 2017.
Since I was asked by many of my couples in the last years how I even became a wedding photographer in the first place, I thought this year´s posting premiere would be the perfect moment to tell you all about it.
When I started to devote myself to wedding photography there was one woman that caught my attention right away. I guess most of you have already heard about her and I´m very proud to say I was her assistant for two wedding seasons. I´m talking about no less a person than Pia Clodi aka peaches&mint. She´s substantially responsible for who I am and what I do today.
It all started with an e-mail from Susanne Schuhmann, owner and blogger of the one and only Hochzeitsguide. Only a very few of you might know that I learned a lot about photography through my own blog called Wiener Wohnsinn. At the time I got Susanne´s e-mail I was writing posts about lifestyle, interior and DIY for more than four years. But I did not care two figs about weddings at all. But then Susanne asked me if was interested to create a little “favor for the guest”-DIY for her e-mag.
When we finally met in person to discuss everything en detail she told me about Pia. Funnily I discovered Pia´s work on Hochzeitsguide some days before I met Susanne and found that her way of photographing comes very close to my own sense for beauty and aesthetics. From this day on I couldn´t stop thinking about it. I contacted Pia via e-mail and asked her directly if she wanted to have coffee with me some time. Coffee turned into lunch that ended in a hilarious afternoon with a little more than one glass of wine. In the end of the day Pia asked me if I wanted to attend her at weddings as her assistant and I answered “yes” beaming with joy!
From this day on I was her shadow. I perfected loading films within a minimum of time and was unbelievably happy to have the possibility to look over such a talented lady´s shoulder at work. And not to mention all the fun we had! We were cruising through Austria, flew to France for a wedding and spent many unforgettable hours together not photographing. It was such a great time and I don´t want to miss a single second of it. I´m very thankful for the trust Pia put in me and for everything she taught me about the high art of film photography.
When Pia asked me if I wanted to shoot the wedding of Holly and Hedinn at the beautiful Aiola Castle St. Veit instead of her it was a great pleasure to say yes. On the one side I was totally nervous because I wanted to meet her requirements. On the other side I almost burst with pride. So with mixed feelings I drove to Styria where I spent a magnificent day with many tears of joy, laughter, delicious food and a dreamlike setting.
Recently Pia published an article about me and the wedding of Holly and Hedinn. While reading I couldn´t help but to shed some more tears of joy. Can you imagine something more exciting than your mentor honoring you with beautiful words and compliments?
Dear Pia, THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH again for trusting me and believing in me all the time. <3
I´m really pleased to share my results of this adorable Austrian-Norwegian wedding at Aiola Schloss St. Veit with you now, which I shot for my dear friend Pia from peaches&mint. Enjoy seeing them trough!
