Do you remember the engagement shoot I did with Marie-Eve and Claus in Vienna? Back then I already mentioned their incredible destination wedding plans for their personal ceremony at Lake Iseo in Italy. Up until the day of my departure I could not believe I was really going to photograph this wonderful destination wedding in Lombardy. After my arrival I cruised along the lakeside with my rented car. My heart started beating like crazy and I was mesmerized by the unique beauty of this place.
It was a really hot day in July and the sun was shining all day long. I took the ferry to the small island Monte Isola to get to Marie-Eve and Claus´ wedding location Castello Olofredi. With all my equipment walking up there was quite exhausting but as soon as I arrived at the top I was rewarded with a breathtaking view that let me forget about my aching muscles immediately. This castle is just gorgeous and surrounded by wonderful blooming orange trees, oleander bushes and olive groves as far as the eye can see.
And right there, under the olive groves next to the castle, Marie-Eve and Claus had their rehearsal dinner. Marie-Eve comes from Quebec/Canada and Claus was born in Denmark. Their families came from all over the world to Italy, to join them on this special day. That´s why it was very important for the bridal couple to-be to give all of them the chance to socialize with each other before the actual wedding and to get used to Italy´s Dolce Vita.
Their dinner table was set typically Italian and decorated with lemons and olive branches from the garden. They served refreshing Aperol-Sprizz and Antipasti until all their guests have arrived. At sunset I took Marie-Eve and Claus to the lakeside to shoot some romantic portraits, before we all gathered around the table.
Marie-Eve organized some lovely light chains to seam the table and imparted her very own style to this evening´s entire decoration. In her next life she definitely should become a wedding designer. The engagement and dedication she put into all these preparations was overwhelming. Every single detail carried her thumbprint and was selected very carefully and thoughtfully. But let´s talk about that later when I show you the great pictures of their wedding.
The wine was delicious, the pizza slices were soft and crunchy at the same time and the air was filled with the scent of fresh Oregano. Once Marie-Eve and Claus gave a speech and welcomed all their gests the spell was broken long time ago.
We all spent an unforgettable evening with good conversation and wine at the rehearsal dinner in the Olive Gardens of Castello Oldofredi. When I left the crowd of guests to get some sleep after a long journey I watched the moon for some time, which was reflected in the water of Lake Iseo. And while I was listening to the voices and the happy laughter of the guests, I still kept asking myself if all of this was just a dream or if there´s really going to be a beautiful wedding in Lombardy tomorrow…
