Castle Schloss Eckartsau is probably one of Austria´s most beautiful hunting castles, if not THE most beautiful. First mentioned in the 12th century you immediately feel the history once you´ve reached the estate situated among the national park Donauauen. It was emperor Karl I´s last residence and even until today there are several belongings and furniture of Austria’s last emperor and his family left to marvel at.
I was filled with awe and amazement when Elisabeth Sandfort guided me through the premises of the mansion. One room seemed more pompous than the other. You stride through Karl I´s office, passing hunting trophies and a huge ball room where once receptions and parties took place, to end up in the private rooms of the late emperor´s wife. It´s a travel back in time into a different world.
Elisabeth, the so-called lady of the castle is the kind soul of Schloss Eckartsau and was responsible for our wedding inspirations to come true. It´s no self-evidence to shoot in a history-charged castle like that and I feel very honored my team and I got the chance to experience this special day.
I had a vision in mind called “ Elegant Wedding at Schloss Eckartsau ”. My plan was to cherish and present the magnificent castle on the one side and to reveal the surrounding nature´s beauty on the other side. Luckily the weather was great and I felt blessed to realize everything we had planned. I´m really happy about the result and can´t wait to finally publish my pictures.
However, I could never have realized my visions if it wasn´t for the wonderful support of an amazing team. Most of all I want to thank Raphaela of Venus Weddings with whom I was honored to work on already three weddings together. One of which you can see here, the second one will be published soon. It´s always so much fun working with her and it simply amazes me how perfectly she plans and implements everything. Working on this shooting together was a very nice change for both of us. Despite of her full schedule Raphaela didn´t hesitate a second to support me with decoration, styling and developing a concept. Our dreamlike tablescape was her masterpiece and served as ideal stage for our beautiful flower arrangements by Timo Bolte.
For individual stationery (did you see the paintings of the castle and its pavilions – aren´t they unbelievable?!) we asked Carissimo Letterpress to join our team and Roots & Berries especially dyed silk ribbons to match our stationery perfectly. Personal name tags were calligraphed by Kalligraphie mit Liebe for us. Santiago Boteca, wedding filmmaker and one of my favorite co-workers on weddings, created an adorable video story which I you’ll find at the bottom of this blogpost.
I´m overly happy and very proud our shooting made it onto Magnolia Rouge – one of the best wedding blogs worldwide. Click here to see even more. But now enough said, I hope you´re ready for an Elegant wedding at Schloss Eckartsau!
