Ann-Kathrin & Paul’s wedding was more than I ever dreamt about as a wedding photographer. Not only because they got married on my favorite island Mallorca but also because it was a small, intimate and emotional wedding. To be exact, it was a special elegant finca wedding in Mallorca at Casal Santa Eulàlia.
Their love story is as unique and special as their private celebration on the Balearic Islands was. Ann-Kathrin, born and raised in Germany, moved to Vienna to study at a university, where she met Paul, half Austrian and half from the Southern States. Paul saw Ann-Kathrin for the first time at a typically Austrian tavern and the rest is history. Since then they are a couple through thick and thin for almost ten years now.
Ann-Kathrin looked breathtaking in her custom made dress by Jürgen Christian Hoerl, a talented Viennese fashion designer. Together with her maid of honor and best friend since kindergarden she got ready for her big day in a typically Mallorcean furnished suite. Matching her style Ann-Kathrin chose subtle jewelry and shoes. Her hair was artfully braided by her stylist Silke von Rolbiezki and complemented her unique bridal look. Her bridal bouquet was made of field flowers, resembling the invitation cards.
In the North-East of the island they asked for God´s blessing. Their wedding took place in a beautiful little church of pilgrimage called Ermita de Sant Honorat. Since their wedding party consisted only of their closest friends and family members both didn´t want to get married in a big, pompous church. Their ceremony was really moving, not only because the female pastor chose the most wonderful words to marry them. Afterwards they had their agape in front of the chapel with amazing view over the Balearic Islands, receiving heartwarming congratulations on their marriage.
They offered fluffy pretzels and Cava. Then, driving in convoy, the wedding guests headed towards Casal Santa Eulàlia for refreshment which was a 40 minutes drive away. This wedding location offered a wonderful garden with two swimming pools and absolute privacy, which is perfect for a wedding like this. Their dinner was as intimate, personal and affecting as the ceremony. All together they enjoyed the meal on two big tables and listened to emotional speeches.
After the dessert Ann-Kathrin and Paul danced their first dance as newly-weds to Norah Jones´ „Come away with me” under a lovely sky of lamps. Humming along and with a little tear of joy in my eyes I stood on the top of the stairs and watched the lovestruck couple. The looks they exchanged showed how deep their bond was. The evening faded away for me by dancing with the wedding guests and thinking by myself that I could not have wished for a more beautiful ending of this year´s wedding season than this.
